"I walked in and she' s sat in the coffin. In the middle of the living-room floor and she's - she's watching telly and laughing." A play about discovering life in the midst of death, Colder Than Here is funny, truthful and heartbreaking. Myra has been given six months to live so she sets out to plan her funeral with all the energy you might use to plan the perfect wedding. As her reluctant family are drawn in to the plans, they begin to learn how to live together.
Colder Than Here is an astute and humorous portrayal of a family pulling together in the face of impending grief. It takes a timely look at society’s changing attitudes towards the process of dying and the ceremonies associated with death. Myra is terminally ill but busy getting on with life and taking a hands on approach to planning her funeral and the lives of those around her. As she researches burial spots and biodegradable coffins her family is forced to communicate with her, and each other, as they head towards an unpredictable future.
