Details
Put up by her lover Julius Caesar in a house on the wrong side of the Tiber, Cleopatra - queen, courtesan, Pharaoh, goddess - is hatching plots and dealing with the procession of great Romans who come looking for Caesar. She tries to enchant the cold Republican fanatic, Marcus Brutus, seduce the irresistible and easily diverted Mark Antony, and adopt Octavius, Caesar's heir. Each must be beguiled into her scheme to marry Caesar and rule the world. But Caesar, embroiled in the politics of Rome, has not visited her for a week.
