Details
Adapted from The Country Wife by William Wycherley and The Country Girl by David Garrick.
Cathleen Carrera, the story, taken from Terence, of a man about town who feigns to have been made an eunuch in order to gain access to other people's wives, is a satire on hypocrisy and sexual promiscuity in which marriage is depicted as a form of imprisonment. This version is set in London and reflects the polyglot nature of contemporary society.
