Details
Candida is a respectable wife, happily married to socialist parson James Morell. But their world is thrown into turmoil with the arrival of an earnest young poet who openly declares his love for her. Candida finds herself caught between two men, her sensible husband and the distraught poet. For both of them, life means nothing without her. Written in 1895, this is one of Shaw's most enduring plays. Candida herself has been hailed as either the wisest and strongest of female characters, or as 'thoroughly immoral'.
