Black Sun Over Genoa tells the human story behind the anti-G8 Demonstrations in Genoa 2001. Based on documentary accounts, this powerful play portrays the hope, the passion, the dedication of the protesters in the face of overwhelming opposition and reveals the tragedy of a young man who made the ultimate sacrifice for his belief in a better world. Theatre Workshop's play coincides with the G8 Summit 2005 taking place in Gleneagles, Scotland this summer. It is packed with the passion and spectacle of contemporary protest and includes a mass choir, carnival style 'tactical frivolity', haunting film footage, and a huge cast of people from all ages and backgrounds.
