It's 1994, and Johnno McCreadie is a teenager living in a small suburban Scottish town where the Criminal Justice Act has just come into effect - a new piece of legislation which effectively outlaws raves, or "public gatherings around amplified music characterised by the emission of a succession of repetitive beats". Beats is a coming-of-age story exploring rebellion, apathy and the irresistible power of gathered youth. With techno. Lots of techno. Written and performed by Kieran Hurley, with live DJ Hushpuppy (original mix by Johnny Whoop) plus live visuals by Jamie Wardrop. This performance contains strobe lighting. For ages 16+.
