Each performance abounds in just the kind of telling detail that makes almost all of LaBute s writing so engaging. The actors all disclose the psychopathologies of these young American lives with riveting immediacy; and horrifying charm.

There is no mistaking LaBute s technical skill, his ability to get under the skin of both his characters and the audience. But there is an imaginative nastiness here, combined with a failure of compassion, that makes the flesh creep.
