Details

Baal archiveBrecht's first play, Baal, is a dramatic biography of a bohemian poet, who flouts convention and exploits man and woman alike in his ruthless drive for self-realisation through sensuality. It is lyrical and episodic, crudely imagined but vigorously expressed and located in the provinces Brecht knew, where town meets country under the open sky.
