Set in rural Wales in the 19th Century - a story of love, faith, magic and labour. Two sixteen year old girls, Bethan and Nia. One fair and refined, the other dark and passionate. A peasant and an heiress, in childhood they shared an education, a close friendship and the secret of magical rituals. When Caleb, a charismatic preacher, arrives in their small farming community, the friends become rivals and their magi is used for darker purposes.
