Set in London in the early eighties with Thatcher newly appointed to power, the commercialism that we have grown to know and love as we race towards the millennium has just crossed the Atlantic - fast cars, dollar bills, and a lifestyle to match.
American Days covers 24 hours in July; the location is the listening room of international record company IBC, and Ian, the talent scout, has just contacted three teenage hopefuls to meet the head honcho, Don Sherman. Their aim? - to be given the contract that will transform their lives. Poliakoff draws the audience into the tense, concentrated atmosphere of the audition situation and explores the games characters play with each other. Presented by Bullamakanka
