A Toy Epic archiveA Toy Epic is a touching drama of childhood, friendship and coming of age in a seaside town in north Wales from the 1920s until the outbreak of War. It follows the journey of three boys - Michael, the Rector's son from a privileged background, with a big house and a maid, Albie, from a council estate in town and Iorwerth, Welsh speaking and passionate about the countryside, the chapel and the family farm. The story charts their rites of passage from the first day at school; through faltering discoveries of childhood, the turbulent, self-conscious yet carefree years of adolescence and on into the stark reality of adult choices in a world that is changing fast. We explore their lives - thoughts, emotions and first love - as they each, in a different way, strive to realise their own possibilities and escape the restrictions of life in a small town by following their dreams.
