A Flowering Tree archiveInspired by The Magic Flute and its themes of magic and transformation, John Adams' new opera is based on a story from South India where magic is deeply woven into the fabric of legends and life. This ancient and beautiful story, is by told an international cast of singers, master Javanese dancers and the incomparable Schola Cantorum de Venezuela. Commissioned by New Crowned Hope (Vienna), the Barbican Centre, San Francisco Symphony, Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, the Berliner Philharmoniker.
