Details
Written in 1611 and first performed 2 years later (in Bankside) this was a very successful satire on London life set around Cheapside market. It is Lent and Londoners are in a frenzy. Denied the flesh they crave, they explore other carnal pleasures and a rich, lurid portrait emerges of a society driven by lust, greed, appetite and money.
