Details
Stories Before Bedtime is a series of late-night readings, designed to champion the love of reading and stories and to transport the audience back to when being read aloud before bedtime was a fundamental part of one s daily life. Each evening will feature three classic stories that revolve around a central theme, read by well-known actors and writers. As well as reminding people of the power and joy of storytelling aloud, the selection of readings are designed to discover or rediscover classic tales. Dressing up strongly encouraged. An evening of midsummer rituals, misjudged party frocks and sweaty break-ups, Miranda will be reading Virginia Woolf's short story, ?The New Dress', telling the tale of a deeply insecure and painfully self-conscious guest at a party who's convinced that she is the target of mockery, and Sonya reading a extract from Dodie Smith's first novel, ?I Capture the Castle', following the adventures of an eccentric family struggling to live in genteel poverty in a decaying English castle during the 1930s.'The New Dress' and Sonya read an extract from Dodie Smith's first novel, 'I Capture the Castle'.
