A man sits on stage, engaged in an act of ritual self-flagellation, which is periodically interrupted (for the intake of water, the readjustment of the accompanying sound-track, moments of doubt and re-formation) and thus never reaches the level of passionate intensity it is meant to induce. Around this central focus, the stage is in a constant state of flux, with more bodies, objects, actions being added or removed, different contexts and moods being created, only to be superseded by others.
