Details
Did Christopher Marlowe and Sir Walter Raleigh secretly write Shakespeare’s plays in an underground sect known as The School Of Night? What would happen if such a covert organisation existed today? In the last few years of his extraordinary life, the great British theatre maverick - Ken Campbell - developed his own School Of Night. The aim - to encourage a group of 'rhapsodes' to open the 'bardic tap', accessing the deepest parts of their poetic souls, through a series of seemingly impossible challenges. Homeric epics? Shakespearean sonnets? Lipography? Monovocalics? You name it - The School Of Night extemporises it. Neophyte goader Alan Cox now leads the bards in some of the most ambitious and hilarious improvisation on the London stage. An exploration of esoterica, conspiracy theories, poetic forms, songs and whatever is on the audience's mind that night. All entirely improvised, wildly unpredictable and utterly anarchic.
