Broth is an honest exploration of the experience of elders in 21st century Scotland, told by artist Donna Rutherford, through the tradition of soup making. It explores the rituals and revelations that trace changes in people's lives, families and wider communities through a series of personal storytelling conversations. Dr Pete Seaman - Glasgow Population Health, references the video interviews in Broth: "There was not sympathy, but identification: a shift from 'them' to 'we'. In an era where youth is elevated, I was struck by people whose youth has never left them although their bodies have aged. Memories of time spent with others become their ?pillars of survival' as physical challenge and short term memory loss set in. The perspectives in Broth provide material to begin a re-imagining of all our later years."
