An opera for children. Having conquered Greece, Minos, King of Crete, has pledged to burn Athens to the ground unless every nine years the Athenians send him a group of young men and woman to face the terrifying Minotaur. On hearing this, Theseus volunteers to join the sacrificial youths on their fateful journey, swearing to put to an end his people s misery by destroying the Minotaur. Theseus meets King Minos daughter Princess Ariadne and the pair are immediately attracted to one another. Ariadne quickly realises that she cannot allow Theseus to die and forms a plan to help him escape from the labyrinth. Based on the classical Greek myth of Theseus and The Minotaur, and brought to life through live performance and film animation, this heroic tale is a blend of action, mystery, fantasy and high adventure. Join Theseus on his magical journey of love and discovery in this opera for young audiences and their families. Sung in English. Running time 1 hour 50 minutes (one interval)
