In a mythical land the Prime Minister is commanded to create an entertainment to make the Prince laugh and save him from his fatal melancholy - but the Prime Minister is secretly plotting his death. When the prince offends a witch he is sent to get three oranges. Each contains a princess, but the first two die of thirst when their oranges are cut open.
