Details

First performed in 1866 and set in a 19th Century Bohemian village this is the story of an arranged marriage and plenty of confusion as suitors are spurned and spurn in their turn. Smetana wrote five versions of this opera/operetta. Revival supported (2005) by The Friends of Covent Garden. Sung in English. Running time 2 hours 45 minutes
