Details
A comic opera in one act (1860). As the plot relates, the wife of the title regularly beats up her husband - because she used to be beaten up by her previous now-dead husband. It's not really a satisfactory situation for either of them. But her previous husband isn't dead - he didn't drown as everyone thought, but ran away to Canada. It's a shock for both of them when she finds out that he's alive, and he finds out that she didn't die in a fire as he thought. So what of Rita's current henpecked and hounded husband? Maybe the ex can show him a thing or two on how to improve his current marital lot and restore a bit of domestic bliss to the situation. Sung in Italian. Approx running time 50 mins (no interval)
