Details
Experience tango as you never have before. Tango is not only a dance form, it is also poetry and song. From the suburbs to the blistering heat of the clubs of Buenos Aires we follow Maria on her journey of sex, exploitation and death to be blown away by her spectacular re-birth. An astonishing achievement from the world's finest tango composer Astor Piazzolla and one of the Spanish speaking world's greatest poets, Horacio Ferrer. This white hot new production unites musicians and singers from Argentina and Europe. The opera will be performed by Julian Rowland, one of the UK's leading bandoneonists. He will be joined by award-winning musicians and singers, and accompanied by visual artist Joanna McCormick and dancers from Non Such History and Dance. Maria de Buenos Aires will be a unique mixture of dance, poetry and contemporary music.
