Details

L'occasione fa il ladro (literally, Opportunity Makes the Thief), is an opera full of youthful energy and appealing melody. Rossini deftly sketches in his characters and then moves events along at lightning speed. It is a cunningly constructed comedy of mixed-up luggage and mixed-up identity, featuring the marvellous Don Parmenione, a larger-than-life, womanising, wine-loving, insolvent man of the world. Of course, true love triumphs in the end, and the opera concludes, as good comedies should, in a double wedding. Sung in English. Running time approx. 1 hour 15 minutes
