Jephtha, war leader of the Israelites, has triumphed in battle but will God demand a sacrifice in return - the life of the general's beautiful daughter? Handel's inspiration for his intense oratorio Jephtha may have been the Bible, but the work is an involving human drama not a sermon. A co-production with Welsh National Opera. Running time 3 hours 10 minutes.
