Details

Based on Shakespeare's The Merry Wives of Windsor, Salieri's opera tells the tale of lecherous Sir John Falstaff's unsuccessful attempts to seduce Mistress Slender and Mistress Ford and the wives' ultimate revenge on the incorrigible old knight.
