Details

The music is a collaboration of several composers including Mozart, and is a forerunner to The Magic Flute (1791). Recent exciting discoveries of missing sections of the score from among looted manuscripts in Russia have enabled a reconstruction of this little known work. This production is supported by JP Morgan. To celebrate the 250th year of Mozart's birth, Garsington Opera's tribute will be to stage the re-discovered The Philosophers' Stone (Der Stein der Weisen) performed in Vienna in 1790 with a libretto by Emanuel Schikanader.
