Another America: Fire is set in Houston, 2014, where the first black American female astronaut is about to fly to Mars. Under the glare of the paparazzi, she is gripped by an unimaginable fear of her groundbreaking mission. Her life s dream can only be reached by sacrificing the love of her life and finding the courage to face her ancestors. A new opera brimming with inventiveness, humour and passion, shot through with visual wizardry. Part of Push 04 a season of new theatre, opera and ballet created and performed by some of our most established and innovative Black British artists, in collaboration with Almeida Theatre, ROH2 at the Royal Opera House and English National Opera and is supported by Bloomsberg and JPMorgan, Arts Council England, Decibel, Esmee Fairbairn Fouundation, Jerwood Foundation and NESTA.
