Details

Sea Sisters is a one-actress show consisting of 8 monologues by extraordinary women characters from Brighton's rich history. They are either historical personages or typical, if fictional, representatives of their times. They include Martha Gunn of bathing machine fame, Phoebe Hessell, who fought as a soldier and shopped a highwayman before dying peacefully at the age of 108, the Marchioness of Conyngham, one of George IV's fatter mistresses, the Contesse Beaule, who escaped from revolutionary France with her favourite maid secreted in a trunk, and Madame Michau, whose reign as dancing teacher at the Royal Pavilion came to a comically dramatic end. All these incredible creatures, and others, will be presented by actress Tamsin Holland
