World Premiere. Artist Bobby Baker first performed Drawing on a Mother's Experience in 1988 as a 38 year old mother of two. A commentary on domesticity, the performance is based on Baker's first eight years of motherhood and explores her fascination with the role and belief that it is largely undervalued by society. The piece was an immediate success and initial plans for a one-off performance evolved into an extensive tour of the UK and internationally until Baker decided to ?retire? the show after 300 performances in 2000. Now a grandmother to two granddaughters, and as determined a feminist as ever, Baker revisits her seminal work to highlight the subject, still relevant 27 years after her first performance. Bringing the production up to date especially for WOW 2015, the piece offers a timely reflection on motherhood from an older and wiser (?) vantage point. Bobby Baker website.
