Details
Full of hopes and dreams and leaving home for the first time, a young man and his younger sister arrive in a new town in search of work and walk straight into a maelstrom of protest, getting caught up in forces beyond their control. Sound familiar? Drawing on another time but familiar place. The Forgotten, a new musical is set in Newport 1839, yet tells an eternal classic story of lost love, divided loyalties and betrayal against the backdrop of the Chartist uprising. You'll be surprised how protest songs of the period lend themselves to the untamed rhythms of today and how the lives of our ancestors pulsed with the same desires and longings as our own. Funded and supported by the University of Wales, Newport, the Arts Council of Wales and The Riverfront.
