Stop the World - I Want to Get Off archiveStop the World - I Want to Get Off is a British musical that was a hit in the 1960s. Still surprisingly relevant, this production re-imagines the piece for a modern audience. It tells the story of a working class everyman, Little Chap, whose main goal in life is to be rich. When he marries the daughter of his boss, because she becomes pregnant, his ambitions start to be realised as his new father-in-law opens the door to many opportunities. Little Chap becomes increasingly egocentric, making hedonistic lifestyle choices and becoming a distant figure to his family. Will he realise his mistakes and make amends before he ends up an isolated and lonely old man? The energetic and tuneful score contains standards such as What Kind of Fool Am I?, Gonna Build a Mountain and Once in a Lifetime.
