When Pearl returns to her old hometown the last thing she wants is to meet the boy she left behind. And the last thing either of them expects is that their children will fall in love. Based around famous songs from 50s, 60s and 70s and with the occasional reference to American TV and cinema, Son of a Preacher Man features old classics like 'From New York to LA', 'Pearl's a Singer', 'Can't Take My Eyes Off You' and 'What Becomes of the Broken Hearted'.
