This multi-award winning musical tells the hilariously farcical story of passengers upon the 20th Century Ltd, a luxury train travelling from Chicago to New York in 1932. The 'on this last penny' actor/producer Oscar Jaffee, his ex-lover, now movie star and possibly Oscar's saviour, Lily Garland, Lily's young lover, a couple of Oscar's sidekicks, a little old lady who has escaped from a lunatic asylum! and a train filled with fellow travellers and train employees all combine to make this 'One of the most dazzling, wittily scripted and beautifully scored musicals'.
