Aristophanes Now archiveA musical reworking of the plays of Aristophanes. With leading contemporary Greek composer Stamastis Kraounakis, dancers from Turkey and musicians from around Europe, Aristophanes Now focuses on the chorus sections of the original ancient Greek comedies by one of Greece's most admired dramatists. With stunning design by takis for Artluxe and video projections by mesmer, the production draws upon the universal themes of love, loneliness, youth, old age, celebration, betrayal and beauty. Aristophanes' plays, composed and performed in Athens during the fifth and fourth centuries BC, are the earliest surviving instance of comic drama in European culture and form part of the history of European theatre.
