In this re-telling of the classic tale, little Tom discovers through his comic and scary adventures that growing big isn't the same as growing up; he has to keep his wits about him to avoid the perils of the great big world around him. Meet the Fairy Godmother who leaves helpful post-it notes. Tom's Dad who gets three wishes and makes a mess of them, King Wilberforce the 14th and his servant Wibber, a very hungry Giant and the Big Bad Wolf's bigger badder brother. The show is performed in a traditional puppet stage dressed as a book-case, with one large book with pages that turn to reveal the changes of scenery. Music, audience participation, glove and rod puppets, with a special introduction by Professor Punchinello, travelling showman and Bubbleologist with his cheeky helper, Bookworm. The Tale of Tom Thumb is a lively glove and rod puppet play retelling the classic story in which little Tom discovers that growing big is not the same as growing up. Using a strong plot with plenty of puppet action and some audience participation, the story of Tom, as he uses his wits to avoid the perils of the big world around him, will enthral young children. It is performed in Bookworm's Travelling Theatre - a puppet stage, which looks like a giant bookcase and where the scenery is revealed by turning the pages of a big book. Age 4+
