It's 1937: Amelia Earhart, the most famous person on the planet, has gone missing in her silver Electra aeroplane, just as she was approaching the final leg of her first round-the-world flight. 40 years later - and 2,000 miles away in Australia - an elderly woman discovers a jar of freckle cream on the beach. Could it offer a clue to the disappearance of Amelia? So begins a story that takes us from the Australian Outback to America and back again, with a huge cast of exciting characters, as we follow in the footsteps of one of the greatest pioneers of the 20th century. Silver Electra is a new family show by English Touring Opera, whose other recent productions include the award-winning Laika the Spacedog and Shackleton's Cat. It is suitable for children aged 9-14 and their families. The show is performed by a cast of four singers, accompanied by a live band and a wide range of percussion instruments. There will be opportunities to ask questions and meet the cast after the show.
