Details
Shackleton's Cat is a lively adventure story designed to give children aged 7-11 their first experience of opera. 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of Ernest Shackleton's voyage to Antarctica on The Endurance. The opera tells the story of the sinking of the ship and the daring lifeboat escape across the ocean from the perspective of Mrs Chippy, the ship's cat. Composed by Russell Hepplewhite, who wrote ETO's hit children's opera Laika the Spacedog, the opera lasts about an hour and is suitable for both schools and families. The latest of English Touring Opera's celebrated productions for children
