NT Shell Connections is a partnership between youth theatre, children's playwrights and flagship theatres nationwide supported by Faber and Faber, Shell UK and The National Theatre A travelling Storyteller and a girl meet in a land devastated by war and famine. The Storyteller conjures a long-long-ago land of people and plenty - a beautiful garden inhabited by the Kritters of the land, the trees and the water. But the beauty doesn't last long. The humans come to the garden and soon there are two tribes who hate and fear each other and who worship different gods. When a Singer from one tribe and a Musician from the other fall in love, there is brief hope until the religious leaders enter an unspoken and gruesome pact...
