Details

The Soldier's Tale (L'Histoire du Soldat) tells the Faustian tale of a soldier who sells his soul to the devil in return for infinite wealth, and explores the concepts of evil, duality and temptation. Stravinsky worked with the writer, Rumuz on this innovative work of music theatre in 1918 while living in Switzerland, surrounded by war-torn Europe. The Motion Group intend to take this production to Baghdad in 2005 in an initiative to foster meaningful and sustainable collaboration with Iraqi artists in the post-war era, using a new Arabic/English translation, before bringing it back to London.
