Details
Based on a seasonal folktale, The Snow Maiden explores love, betrayal and innocence against a snow-covered landscape of rural Russia. Emerging from the land of Frost and Snowflakes, The Snow Maiden is swept up by the colourful village festivities as they prepare for the arrival of spring. Acclaimed Soviet choreographer Vladimir Bourmeister's The Snow Maiden returns to London with enchanting new sets and evocative costumes after a period of 40 years. First premiered at the Royal Festival Hall in July 1961, this magical ballet in three acts is imaginatively set to highlights of Tchaikovsky's Symphony No.1 and the finale of String Serenade plus other well-known works.
