Details
Founded in 1982 by Michael Merwitzer and Sian Williams, The Kosh is a group of diverse original performers who endeavour to make the arts accessible and provide life enhancing experiences. They are winners of international awards in theatre, film and dance and critically acclaimed by the public and the press. A Square of Sky is a promenade performance which combines dance, theatre and live music with film and sculpture. Set in a pit of red sand and bricks, it evokes the cruelties and consolations of life as seen through the eyes of a child. Inspired by Janina David’s book about life in the Warsaw Ghetto during the Second World War, the production examines the survival of the human spirit and relates her story to events of today. A Square of Sky is a moving and poetic account of experiences shared by all those who have endured oppression because of their race, religion or colour. The production brings together international artists, dancers, actors, musicians, refugees and survivors of political upheaval. It will be performed at the magnificent Round Chapel in Hackney.
