Chinese-born Shen Wei trained as a dancer, choreographer, painter and designer. His multi-layered works, based on the fusion of different art forms, are a remarkable hybrid of western and eastern influences. In Connect Transfer, Shen Wei’s dancers interact in an inventive and daring choreography, creating striking architectural and sculptural shapes. With live piano accompaniment performed by Stephen Gosling, dance language is transformed into visual art as the dancers paint their movements onto a giant white canvas. The unique painted floor covering reveals the patterns of the dance in a vivid new light, and the otherwise fleeting moments of movement are given a visual permanence. As they dance, they paint their own movements onto a giant white canvas, bringing the stage alive with another dimension. The unique painted floor covering reveals the patterns of the dance in a vivid new light, giving visual permanence to the usually fleeting movements. A live accompaniment is performed by renowned pianist Stephen Gosling. 70 mins/no interval
