UK Premiere. The fourth of the performances in the Focus on Rosas series, Desh continues one of the themes of Dance Umbrella 2006: the relationship between choreography and music. Desh comprises five sections with choreography developed by De Keersmaeker and Salva Sanchis, to a mix of traditional Indian ragas and the Indian-inspired jazz of John Coltrane. De Keersmaeker and Sanchis perform in Desh, with former Rosas member Marion Ballester completing the trio. The human voice, flute and tabla combine exquisitely to accompany this intensely intimate series of solos, duets and trios.
