Details
Emerging choreographers Robin Dingemans and Matthias Sperling have both given their bodies over to other people in order to create works that are very much their own (Sat 25 Apr). When researching his newest piece, Not What I Had in Mind, two-time Place Prize semi-finalist Robin Dingemans consulted with 28 people of diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives. The resulting solo work, set to live percussion, is an amalgamation of the ideas that emerged after each was given a half day in the studio with Dingemans’ body as a means of expression. Riff is ex-Random Dance member Matthias Sperling’s contemporary dance equivalent of a remix. Sperling samples excerpts from works of three choreographers –Laila Diallo’s Out of sight in the direction of my body, William Forsythe’s Solo and Shobana Jeyasingh’s Transtep – and sets them to a score by Scanner.
