21 is a multi-media presentation of dance, music and film incorporating Bonachela's distinctive style of choreography with his creative directors' concept of the meaning of celebrity and adoration. The work is performed to Wallfisch's original score. The piece will incorporate a short black and white film featuring Kylie Minogue. Prokofiev’s score,
Visions Fugitives, comprises 15 miniatures, each lasting between 20 and 60 seconds. This score was the inspiration for Dutch choreographer, Hans van Manen, to create a suite of dances that range from the sinister to the playful. Rafael Bonachela is a dancer and choreographer with Rambert Dance Company. This is his third work to be presented at Sadler’s Wells. Bonachela’s choreograhy is an exploration of pure dance and physical expression. Christopher Bruce’s
Ghost Dances is one of the most celebrated contemporary dance pieces of its generation. A powerful tribute to the innocent victims of political oppression in South America, the ballet is accompanied by the bewitching rhythms of traditional Andean folk music. Eloquent, compassionate and intensely moving, moments of ordinary life are retraced through dances that are filled with love, happiness and grief.
Ghost Dances is quite simply a popular masterpiece. The Family Matinee programme will include
Ghost Dances and one other work from the programme.
