Details

Phoenix Dance Company are one of the leading exponents of contemporary dance. The programme opens with two works by Christopher Bruce, former director of Rambert: a restaging of his energetic work Shift (2007), set to music by Kenji Bunch; and Shadows, a world premiere created for Phoenix set to Arvo Part's Fratres. Document is the excoriating UK debut from Ivgi & Greben; five dancers struggle against the darkest forces of human emotion in movement of startling intensity, to music by the choreographers' regular collaborator Tom Parkinson. The programme closes with Mapping, created by Phoenix Dance Theatre's former director Darshan Singh Bhuller. Bhuller was inspired by his father's journey from India to the UK to create a dynamic and inventive work in which the world seems to unfold beneath us. Running time: 1hr 55mins including two intervals. Phoenix Dance Theatre website.
