A Simple Man - A dance based on the life and works of L S Lowry (1887-1976), it provided an insight into northern life and an opportunity to see the paintings of this unassuming genius brilliantly animated. An intensely moving work, it combines modern techniques with the discipline of classical ballet and is dance to unforgettable music by Carl Davis. Televised by the BBC and worldwide, it won the Huw Wheldon BAFTA Award for Best TV Arts Programme and was nominated for an International Emmy. The programme will also feature Jazz Concerto an exciting piece featuring power, sensuality and youthful energy set to an irrepressible jazz score; and Jardi Tancat an uplifting and hopeful piece set to traditional Spanish folk songs.
