Clark is renowned for reflecting the interests and obsessions of his generation through a blend of provocative music, striking design and startlingly implosive energetic movement. This full-length piece features four extraordinary dancers. Michael Clark is one of the most significant dancers/choreographers to have emerged in the last 20 years. Stravinsky Project is a three-year collaboration with the Barbican to produce a trilogy of works to seminal dance scores by Igor Stravinsky. Following on from O, Part 1, which premiered in Dance Umbrella 2005, Mmm...Stravinsky Project Part 2 is a brutal and highly physical affirmation of life born out of Clark’s response to The Rite of Spring by Igor Stravinsky. Mmm... will be shown for the first time since its creation in 1992 with an expanded company of 12 dancers and live performance of Stravinsky’s reduction for piano duet played by Andrew West and Philip Moore. Clark explores the themes of birth, life, death and renewal in a relentless and sexually charged choreography. Running time 70 minutes with no interval. Contains nudity Michael Clark Company (UK) website.
