Enthralling performance with live music. Mavin Khoo Dance returns with a new work inspired by the spirit and soul of woman. Using Sufi poetry and ancient Tantric texts Mavin combines classical ballet and Bharata Natyam to create something that just reeks sultry sensuality with every movement. Preceded by a short, ten minute Bharata Natyam piece, Pakriti, performed for camera, Devi celebrates what it is to be a woman, especially within a Hindu and Muslim context. With a new score by Oslo-based Electric Lane and live vocals from South Indian Pushkala Gopal and American Counter Tenor, Michael Harper, plus the return of French choreographer, Laurent Cavanna, this will be an evening of style and class.
