The Mark Morris Dance Group was formed in 1980 and gave its first concert in that year in New York. In the following years, the company s touring schedule has steadily expanded to include cities across America and Europe. Once considered the bad boy of the modern dance world, Mark Morris is now an influential and internationally celebrated choreographer whose pieces have become the standard of creativity for a new generation of dancers, choreographers and critics. Celebrated throughout the world, Mark Morris has become a benchmark of creativity for a generation of dancers, choreographers and audiences. Here the master of American contemporary dance presents two programmes showcasing brand new choreographies alongside classic works from the company’s repertoire. Programme one features Bedtime, set to music by Franz Schubert, as well as the UK premiere of Empire Garden, which features 15 dancers from the Mark Morris Dance Group and is set to a score by Charles Ives for strings and piano
